Bride Defies Paralysing Condition to Walk Down the Aisle

27 Nov

What an inspirational story for a Sunday morning! Victoria Royle, from Cheshire, was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome (a rare nerve condition that strikes down sufferers with paralysis, many being left unable to even swallow or breathe unassisted) two years ago after being admitted to hospital with a numbing sensation in her limbs.

It left her confined to a wheelchair and doctors said she would never be able to walk, but after two years of battling her illness and hours of physiotherapy, 29-year-old Victoria achieved her goal and walked down the aisle to marry her professional rugby player boyfriend Nick.image by

Despite only getting together with him a month before the condition struck, Nick stuck by Victoria and helped nurse her back to health. When Nick then got down on one knee to propose, the Hospital Assistant set her sights on getting out of her wheelchair and walking herself down the aisle on the big day.

The whole wedding can be seen on “Don’t Tell the Bride” on BBC3. The couple signed up to the programme, which provides £12,000 towards the big day but with the catch that the groom has to plan the whole wedding without contacting his bride, because they found it hard to save up for their wedding as both had to take time off work because of Victoria’s illness.

Here´s to plenty of years of health and happiness for the lovebirds 🙂

Look like Bella Swan..

22 Nov

The white sheath wedding dress, with a lace-embellished back that Bella wore in “Breaking Dawn” was custom-made for actress Kristen Stewart by New York fashion designer Carolina Herrera, who said she was “flattered” when asked to create the gown and felt the pressured to deliver something that would please “Twilight” fans. Ahead of the films debut, details of Bella´s dress were as closly guarded as the Alexander McQueen gown Kate Middleton wore at her wedding!

Herrera told Reuters at the movie’s red carpet premiere last week; “I wanted to create a magical moment that they had at the wedding. She’s an innocent girl that is finding her first true love, so there is romance, there is magic, there is everything together”.

Now, Twi-hards can have their very own fairytale wedding experience next year when Herrera´s CHNY boutiques start selling gowns of the same design! No further details, such as the price or how many dresses will be produced, have been released yet, but for those who can´t wait until then to wear the copycat dress, bridal dress company Alfred Angelo, are already selling replicas in their stores worldwide for $799.

Beyoncé´s Wedding Dress Revealed!

20 Nov

Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s April 4, 2008 wedding in NYC was one of the most closely guarded celeb nuptials ever, with few details and no photos emerging from the big day. The newlyweds wouldn’t even confirm the wedding had even taken place until many months after the nuptials! Now, 3 years later, we finally get to see a blink-and-you´ll-miss-it flash of her dress (Skip to 3.36 to see it).

In the video for her inspirational anthem “I Was Here“, taped live at NYC‘s Roseland in August, the superstar shared personal footage from her life, including her childhood (what a cutie!), her early showbiz days, her rise to fame with Destiny’s Child, her mega solo career, her charity work, her romance with Jay-Z, 42 and also the moment she announced her pregnancy this year.

The white, strapless dress features a plunging neckline and cascading train falling in deep folds flowing out behind the bride-to-be, 30. Apparently, the singer didn’t opt for big shot designers such as Vera Wang to design a dress for her big day. Instead, according to Beyoncé’s stylist Ty Hunter, the Houston beauty opted for one of her mum´s, Tina Knowles, designs. Tina, 57, used to design Destiny´s child costumes on and off stage, so she´s had plenty of practise!
