Centerpieces go a long way to making your wedding reception look great. However, the traditional flowers can be expensive.. And boring! Why not try something a bit different? It´s easy to make your own centrepieces and they can look fabulous and totally original! Here´s a few ideas:
– Edible centrepiece: Make batches of your favorite flavoured cookies on sticks, wrap them in tissue paper or cellophane, tie them with thick satin bows and voliá! Arrange them like flowers in colourful plant pots and your guests now only have a lovely centrepiece in front of them, but also something sweet to take home 🙂
– Teapot centrepiece: Prior to your wedding, keep a look out at car boots, garage sales and markets for antique and colourful teapots, these can look lovely filled with flowers and leaves and your guests will be impressed at your originality.
– Candle centrepiece: Group different sized and shaped candlebras in the centre of the tables, with different sized and aromatic candles the same colour as your wedding theme in them. You can decorate it with tulle and ivy for an elegant look. Or try placing lots of little candles on a cupcake stand with ribbons around.
– Beach centrepiece: Fill clear vases and tall glasses with layers of different coloured sand and painted shells for a beachy look, your guests will think they´ve come to a tropical island!
– Sweet centrepiece: Fill fish bowls with all different types of colourful sweets and chocolate, your guests can dip in between courses!
– Re-useable centrepiece: Want to re-use the flowers your bridesmaids held or the ones from the church? Place vases on the tables and fill them when you arrive at the reception.
– Nature centrepiece: Why not arrange branches you´ve spray painted in jars in the centre of the tables? You could go for smaller ones or big ones with feathers, ribbons, lights or crystals hanging on them.
– Fruity centrepiece: Place seasonal fruit with a small LED light in clear martini glasses for a totally different look.
– Floating centrepiece: Fill extra-large wine glasses with liquid and float an open flower in it. You can add colour to the liquid and floating pearls, crystals, petals or candles too. Or do the same in a large bowl that fills the centre of the tables.
These are just a few of the infinite possibilities, a pinch of originality can go a long way!
