Happy 2012!

4 Jan

What a year 2011 has been! As Barbara de Angelis said, “Love is a force more formidable than any other. It is invisible – it cannot be seen or measured, yet it is powerful enough to transform you in a moment, and offer you more joy than any material possession could”, and this year proves that, just look at all the celebrity engagements! Let´s recap the best “love moments” of 2011:

– The US celebrity wedding of the year in my opinion was Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth´s. They started off their wedding with a pre-ceremony cocktail hour at the bride’s California ranch. Reese’s daughter, Ava, served as maid of honor in a dress designed to match Reese’s blush-color satin and Chantilly lace Monique Lhuillier gown. After the ceremony, Reese changed into a shorter white Lhuillier frock for a night of dancing and partying. How about you?

– The top UK wedding had to be Kate Moss and Jamie Hince´s. The model looked beautiful and relaxed in a sheer-panneled, sequin-covered dress, custom designed by John Galliano, and the couple celebrated with a three-day festival-inspired event. Kanye West and Snoop Dogg were on hand to perform in front of a guest list with serious celeb cred, including Naomi Campbell, Kelly Osbourne and Sadie Frost, who originally introduced the newlyweds backstage at one of Jamie’s concerts.

– We even had a Royal wedding to celebrate, William and Kate´s! She wore an amazing Alexander McQueen dress designed by Sarah Burton with delicate lace sleeves. Her sister´s dress was also by AMcQ. Not many would have expected to see Prince William in a scarlet red Irish Guards Mounted Officer’s uniform in the Guard of Honour Order, most expected him to wear the more subdued Royal Air Force uniform, but he obviously decided to wear the uniform of his senior honorary appointment in the Army – the tunic of the Irish Guards since it was his uniform with the “highest rank”. However, he decided to display the famous wings of the RAF on his light blue Garter Sash as well as the Garter Star and the Golden Jubilee Medal – not a bad compromise!

– The best film wedding was, without a doubt, Bella and Edward´s in Breaking Dawn. And it seems you lot all agree, it was listed in the top 10 highest grossing films of 2011 at number 5.

– The best secret wedding of the year, in my opinion, was that of Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig. They married in a mid-week ceremony in New York with only four guests in attendance, after a VERY secret 6-month relationship.

– A best celebrity engagement can´t really be picked, but my favourites by months are;

December; Pop princess Britney Spears to agent Jason Trawick, Matthew McConaughey to long-time girlfriend Camilla Alves and The Saturday´s Rochelle Wiseman to JLS singer Marvin Humes.

November; Actress Anne Hathaway to Adam Shulman.

October; Malcom in the middle actor Frankie Muniz to Elycia Marie Turnbo, Disney star Brenda Song to Miley Cyrus´s elder bro Trace Cyrus and The Big Bang Theory´s Kaley Cuoco to Josh Resnik.

September; Elizabeth Hurley to cricketeer Shane Warne, and reality TV star Jack Osbourne to Lisa Stelly.

August; Actress and reality TV star Tara Reid to Zachary Kehayov.

July; Actress Carey Mulligan to Marcus Mumford, Beverly Hills 90210 star Shannen Doherty to Kurt Isawarienko, and singer Samantha Mumba to Torray Scales.

June; Actress Judy Greer to Dean Johnson, and actress Nikki Reid to Paul McDonald.

May; Reality TV star Kim Kardashian to athlete Kris Humphries, and Sofia Coppola to Thomas Mars.

April; Nancy Shevell to Beatle Paul McCartney, Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy to actress Kate Hudson, and vampire Jamie Bower to witch Bonnie Wright.

March; Actor Edward Norton to Shauna Robertson.

February; DJ Mark Ronson to French actress Josephine De La Baume, KISS vocalist Gene Simmons to Shannon Tweed, and model Kate Moss to Jamie Hince.

January; Spice Girl Emma Bunton to Jade Jones, and tattoo enthusiast Jesse James to Kat Von D.

– The stand-out wedding dress collection of the year was Vera Wang´s black and nude 2012 wedding dress collection.

– Top honeymoon destinations included; Bora Bora, Paradise Island in the Bahamas, Hawaii, Florence and Venice in Italy, Crete and Santorini in Greece, the city of love-Paris, Puerto Vallarta in Mexico, Jamaica, Niagara Falls, San Francisco, Madrid, the Maldives and Las Vegas.

I´m sure 2012 will be a year filled with love, just as much (or maybe even more so? 🙂 ) as 2011… With all that said, the “Love Team” at Bodastory would like to wish a Happy New Year to all the lovebirds out there! xxx
