Original little touches

6 Feb

It´s often the little things that make all the difference to making your day original and personal.. Here are a few of my favorite ideas to give your day that little bit extra:

–    Strong red lips are a classic and ultra-feminine look that’s not often seen at weddings. To make the color last, fill lips in with matching red liner before applying lipstick.

–    Instead of the traditional silk handkerchief in the groom´s jacket pocket, why not try one with a kiss imprint embroidered on it? It´s bound to get noticed!

–    Have your guests demonstrate their favorite smooching styles in a photo-slash-kissing booth. Provide a Polaroid camera so that they can immediately slip their photos into an album and it gives you an instant guest book.

–    For another special guest book idea, have your guests write you little notes on hang tags and attach them to a tree instead. This is an old Japanese custom! After the reception, keep the tree on display at home as a decorative memento, or slide off all the wishes and keep them in a glass vase.

–    For an extra special wedding favour, why not give away homemade sugar scrub in cute little jars? It´s easy to make, here´s a great recipe: http://smartbottomenterprises.blogspot.com/2011/01/homemade-sugar-scrub.html

–    Mini gingerbread houses on cups of coffee are fantastic little desserts, your guests will be impressed!

–    Brides normally look to their mothers and grandmothers for wedding day memorabilia, why not let your Dad or Granddad do his part by wrapping one of his bow ties around the base of your bouquet?

–    Thinking of having flower cupcakes instead of a cake? For an unexpected twist use real edible flowers instead of sugar ones, they look so pretty with their vibrant colours!

–    You won the lottery when you found each other, so send a save-the-date lottery ticket to let guests share in your luck. After scraping off the paint with a penny, they’ll hit the jackpot: your wedding date!

–    If you’re going for a retro/cute wedding style, handmade, mismatched, fabric flowers could be just the thing for your bouquet or the centerpieces.

–    Stick different sized glitter paper stars on the floor and tape them down the aisle for a radiant runner.

–    Want a non-floral bouquet? Fashion one from silk and feather butterflies secured on thin wires so that they float and flutter realistically.

These are just a few of my favourites, so no doubt I´ll do another post on this topic soon
