Best dressed at the Met Costume Gala 2012

8 May

As I´ve said before, I adore red carpet events, the clothes the celebs wear are so exciting to pour over! Here are the best dressed (in my humble opinion):

My favourites are Camilla Belle, who teamed her amazing figure-hugging Ralph Lauren dress with dark lips, Renee Zellweger, who looked incredible in her dramatic backless black Pucci gown, January Jones, who put the pop into pastel in her fresh yellow Versace dress, Emma Roberts, who paired her yellow strapless Escada number with Swarvoski jewels, Emma Stone who just looked amazing in her short, structered red Lanvin dress, and Ashley Greene, who looked like a beautiful bride in Donna Karan Atelier with her hair loose.

Other celebs looked pretty in Schiaparelli pink in a nod to the late Italian designer (it was rumoured that Anna Wintour asked Vogue editors to wear pink and it seems that many stars took her advice too!). Ms Schiaparelli, who passed away in 1973, once famously said: ‘I gave to pink, the nerve of the red, a neon pink, an unreal pink’. She used the colour in her famous Tears Dress, a slender evening gown printed with a Dali design of trompe l’oeil rips and tears, lined in pink and magenta, and her perfume bottle, called Shocking! was also created out of her signature bright pink. I especially loved Emily Blunt´s cut-out Calvin Klein number, Julianne Hough´s Carolina Herrera choice teamed with wavy locks, and Paula Patton´s dusty pink Vera Wang dress.

Approximately 800 guests attended the Gala this year, and Anna Wintour announced that over $11 million had been raised for the Costume Institute, its biggest sum yet.
