Wedding Bands That ‘Get Better With Time’

2 Jun

Japan-based design firm torafu architects, has developed a wedding ring that changes as the years go by. Simple gold rings are coated in a thin layer of silver, so the piece gradually transforms as the thin exterior coat of silver plating rubs away naturally over the years, to reveal a gold band underneath.

The creative agency says that the ring actively portrays ‘the time shared between two people’ as the couple wearing the set displays this passage of time through the wear and tear.

The ‘gold wedding ring’ has been developed in both rounded and squared bands and is available at deux poissons in Tokyo, Japan.

Wow what an interesting concept! I wonder if they can do this with tungsten carbide wedding bands? I’m sure a company like Tungsten World would be interested in such a concept as this!
