Jeweller’s $70m Diamond Ring Cut Entirely From One 150-carat Rock!

Shawish Jewellery, a company based in Geneva, Switzerland, has created a ring made from one enormous chunk of diamond, a dazzling piece of craftsmanship that they have billed as ‘the world’s first diamond ring’.

The 150-carat ring has been valued at around $70 million and took one year to construct as it was a challenging task to master. Unique laser equipment was purchased to ensure the quality of the diamond didn’t suffer through its construction. A hole was cut right through the middle of the huge rock!

It has completely shown up the biggest celebrity rocks on record, the most famous being Elizabeth Taylor’s 33.19-carat diamond ring which falls well short, not to mention Beyonce’s recent 18-carat engagement ring or Kim Kardashian’s 20.5-carat ring.. They might as well have been cubic zirconia in comparison to Shawish’s handiwork!

The incredible piece went on display at Baselworld 2012 last week, the annual watch and jewellery trade show staged in Switzerland.

Peaches Geldof Engaged

Peaches Geldof is engaged to her rocker boyfriend of one year, Thomas Cohen. Sir Bob´s daughter showed off her engagement ring on the red carpet at the world premiere of the movie, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, fresh after announcing her engagement on Twitter over the weekend, admitting “I’m so happy.” Peaches also revealed that she and the S.C.U.M rocker actually got engaged 6 months ago but had waited to break the news officially.

The socialite also discussed the difficulties of getting a mortgage. “It’s a nightmare, because I’m self-employed, but we got one finally. We’re moving to Whitechapel, to a three-bedroom Victorian conversion, which we got for pretty cheap. We’re moving in around January. It’s really exciting.” She added that she had become ‘very much domesticated’, saying: “I’m actually really boring. Recently, I’ve been staying in with my fiancé every night of the week, watching films like Babe.”

Despite being only 22, this will be the second marriage for Geldof, the blonde previously married musician Max Drummey in the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas in August 2008, just weeks after they first met.However, by February 2009, the pair revealed that they had split and their marriage was over. Now the model says she isn’t planning to rush into married life again and revealed she won’t walk down the aisle with her new fiancé for at least a couple of years.

Sinead O´Connor Gets Married

Sinead O´Connor of the “Nothing compares 2 U” fame married her therapist boyfriend, Barry Herridge, 38, on the evening of her 45th birthday. They said “I do” in the back of a vintage pink Cadillac at a drive-through chapel in Las Vegas! She described the ceremony on her blog as “too glorious for words”,  posted a picture of an empty chapel with the caption “photo of the celebrity guests at our wedding”, and promised to tell all soon. The Irish bride apparently wore a low-cut, pink dress and the groom wore a matching pink shirt under his jacket. After the ceremony, candles were lit and all the chapel staff sang Happy Birthday to the singer.

Tha happy couple met in August after she advertised for a man on Twitter, saying she was “in desperate need of a very sweet, sex-starved man” along with a list of requirements! Barry responded to the ad with an email, of which Sinead said “It just took my heart away. It had to be him.” This is the 4th marriage for Sinead.

The marriage comes just a week after the mother-of-four joked to Hot Press magazine: “I’ve been married three times, really I should only have been married once. And no-one should be married more than f***in’ twice, to be honest.”
